Donating
Updated: Mar 1st, 2008
How-To
There are two ways to make contributions to the event. You can either pledge or donate online or send us a check. If you’d like to send a check, please make it payable to University of Colorado and mail it to:
Old Main
275 UCB
Room 1B-51
Boulder, CO 80309
Proceeds
Proceeds from the Buffalo Bicycle Classic fund scholarships for promising Arts and Sciences scholars who need a little extra assistance paying for their education.
Double Your Donations!
Once again, we are happy to announce that we have an anonymous donor matching donations up to a total of $100,000! This means that your $5 contribution instantly transforms into a $10 gift to a talented scholar.
Double Your Pledges!
If your friends have offered to support your ride by pledging you, let them know that their money is going twice as far due to the generous offer mentioned above!
Fundraising Tips
Here are some tips on how best to leverage everyday opportunities around you.
- Publicize
- Let everyone know about your upcoming day in the saddle by wearing your favorite BBC jersey, tee, hat, or socks. Hang one of our posters in your cubicle and challenge your friends to ride with you!
- Personalize
- Make your pledge requests by speaking directly with potential donors, telling them why the Buffalo Bicycle Classic is important to you. It’s easy to do if you keep in mind that you’re asking them to help BBC Scholars, not you.
- Verbalize
- Share your reasons for riding in a hand-written letter or email. Point your audience to our website, galleries, or videos to get them inspired as much as you are.
- Digitize
- Facilitate pledging by taking your efforts online! Ask friends and family to give via your personal or team page on Active.Com. Studies show that, because of the convenience of online donations, you can often double or triple your efforts this way.
- Capitalize
- Find out if your company has a matching gift program or if the companies of folks pledging you have similar programs. Your efforts will be doubled and then doubled once more by our anonymous donor.
